The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) was established by Government in 2014 to better improve links between education institutions and employers. Since 2017 its role has been expanded to support all secondary schools and colleges in England to work towards all of the Gatsby benchmarks with tools, resources and targeted funding. Compass+ is the CEC’s tool to help schools measure their progress against the eight Gatsby benchmarks and manage, track and report on their careers programmes. It is designed to integrate with schools’ Management Information Systems (MIS), using pupil-level data for targeted delivery and more effective evaluation. Compass+ is freely available for all eligible secondary schools, special schools, sixth forms and Pupil Referral Units in England. Compass Classic is available for use by colleges.
A curated and regularly updated directory of resources to help Careers Leaders meet the Gatsby benchmarks, including explanations of the benchmarks; good practice tips; understanding what a Careers Leader does; and how to develop in the role.
Access fully-funded training places available for Careers Leaders, delivered by a range of different training provider partners across England. The course includes access to a qualification in career guidance / development for those that would like to pursue one, and is designed to help Careers Leaders understand their role and strategically and successfully embed a careers programme in their school or college.
There is also a free online self-directed short course which can be completed in your own time.
The National Careers Service provides high quality, free and impartial careers advice, information and guidance. Their service is available to anyone aged 13+, no matter the stage of their careers journey.
